Analysis and Electromagnetic Noise suppression of three-phase Squirrel Cage Induction Motor

this paper present Rotor Notching Technique in which optimized dummy slot is designed on the rotor core of Squirrel Cage Induction Motor. Electromagnetic noise is produced due to the radial Maxwell force. In order to reduce the electromagnetic noise and vibration by suppressing the rotor slot permeance harmonic dummy slot/notch is proposed. Firstly, the theoretical background of the suggested technique is presented. Secondly, to calculate Radial Maxwell force harmonics structural finite-element analysis is performed. It depicts that the modified Squirrel Cage Induction Motor design has reduction in overall noise and vibration up to 7db as compare to conventional design. Dummy slot on rotor core effect the electromagnetic performance of Machine. General attempts have been made to design the shape of rotor bar that increases the operational torque of SCIM. Subsequently, the leakage flux has been increased due to Rotor Notching Technique which effects the average torque and operational efficiency. To improve the average torque and operational efficiency, Shallow/rectangular rotor bar is proposed. This paper presents the new rotor core design that improves operational efficiency, average torque and reduce the Electromagnetic noise of SCIM.
