Study of the temporal allocation of two passive infrared sensors in a multitarget environment

The topic of the paper is the optimization of the management of the lines of sight of two infrared sensors in a multitarget environment. Some general trends for the elaboration of optimal strategies have been underscored by the study of a strategy based on the fusion of these passive sensors. The main result which has been used is the completion principle, that is, the equivalence in Bearing Only Tracking (BOT) between the asymptotic behavior of the real maximum likelihood estimator and the one obtained by supposing a linear measurement model. This principle is a tool which allows one to easily evaluate the performance of the multisensor system in different situations.
