Quantifying Temperature Dependence of qd Parameters in Aerospace Synchronous Machines

Electric machines are a critical component for modern and future aircraft. Representative machine models for proposed electrical power system architectures must capture the dynamic response of these machines for a variety of operating conditions and combinations of loads. This paper presents a summary of the automated procedure and results for the sudden short-circuit testing performed on legacy aerospace synchronous machines across a range of operating temperatures. This data is used to observe the thermal dependencies of the operational impendences and time constants of the synchronous machines.
