Power tracing analysis in wheeling costing

The changing structure of the electric power industry is bringing transmission pricing into a new focus. This paper develops a very efficient algorithm for determining how much use each generator is making of a transmission line and what each generator's contribution is to the system losses. Such problems cannot be solved by only using Kirchoff's laws. The paper first proposes two current decomposition axioms based on which the theories and models are established for the load flow analysis in wheeling costing. To create an efficient algorithm, graph theory is employed. The paper proves that there is no directed circuit in a load flow directed graph. According to this theorem a very simple and efficient algorithm based on recursive elimination process is suggested. Finally, the calculation results for the UK 30 node system are given to illustrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the algorithm proposed in the paper.
