A Cylindrical Rotor Synchronous Generator Design for Small Hydro Power Plants

This paper presents an alternative way of application of cylindrical pole synchronous machine of average speed to small hydro power plants. The aim of the proposed design is to reduce the electrical machine cost making small hydro power plants more competitive in face of other type of renewable generation. The proposed design procedure is applied to an existent rounded poles generator, reaching good results when dimensions and field obtained parameters are compared.
