Ultrathin Metasurface-Based Electromagnetic Illusion

Ultrathin metasurfaces with local phase compensation provide new methods to cloaking devices. Here, scattering field of oblique plane can be reconstructed by using a planar ultrathin metasurface with varactor-loaded unit cells offering continuous phase variations. The phase design method would greatly simplify the design process and is possible to achieve large-dimension illusion for applications in radar and antenna systems as its thin, lightweight, and easy-to-fabricate solution.
