Characterization of Space Time-Varying Channel for the Design of ACM System

Adaptive coding and modulation(ACM) has been widely developed, greatly improving spectrum effectiveness. Traditionally, the ACM system is designed according to the Shannon limit, while the performance of the ACM system is related to the channel property. This paper mainly discusses the time-varying channel property related to the design of ACM system. Time-varying channel model is built to analyze several satellite communication scenarios. The channel property such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and its rate of change are especially analyzed.
