Effective Capacity of Fluctuating Two-Ray Channels with Arbitrary Fading Parameters

The effective capacity (EC) has been recently proposed as an alternative performance metric to the conventional Shannon's ergodic capacity. This important metric takes into account the delay constraints imposed by a specific application and their impact on system performance. In this paper, we present novel analytical results on the effective capacity of wireless systems operating over fluctuating two-ray (FTR) fading channels. Note that the FTR fading model provides a much better fit to experimental data in millimeter wave and device-to-device communications comparing to other small-scale fading models. The proposed mathematical analysis is substantiated by selected numerical and equivalent simulation performance evaluation results.
