Fault tolerant scheme design for the flight control systems using adaptive control allocation technique

In this study, a fault tolerant control approach is proposed for a linear flight control systems of unmanned aerial vehicle by using the adaptive control allocation technique, which has no need of actuator redundancy condition and has good robustness to external disturbances. Firstly, a reference model and control allocation technique are introduced to compensate the bad effects caused by actuator faults. Secondly, based on the auxiliary integrated regressor matrix design, a finite time adaptive update law of control effectiveness matrix is investigated. Finally, simulation studies on an unmanned aerial vehicle with actuator fault are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
