The Multi-Terminals System Software in the USSR and in Russia

In the late 1960s and in the early 70s, specialists realized that a purely batch mode of functioning of third generation computers was not effective in many cases of use. In this regard, in all the developed countries of the world, one of the main directions for improving the system software was the creation of multi-terminal telemonitors. The article gives a brief overview of the main telemonitors used in the USSR. The main attention is paid to the Russian telemonitor OB'/OBB, which was received by mass use at the enterprises of the country. The article describes its main capabilities and the impact that it has on modern informatics.
