Comparison of loss of excitation protection methods in synchronous generators

This work intends to perform a comparison of six different protection methodologies against loss of excitation in synchronous generators. The methods are presented in order to make available the different ways to protect the synchronous generator against the loss of excitation, trying to show its main characteristics of parameterization and operation. In order to identify which protection method has better characteristics of parametrization and reliability, a qualitative comparison is performed. The results show that the analyzed methods that have the best parameterization characteristics do not have the best reliability characteristics.
