A contribution to procedures for the connection of fluctuating installations on power systems

This work aims to improve the procedures for evaluation the connection of disturbing installations at power system taking into account the voltage fluctuation phenomenon. In this context, to complement the procedures applied, specifically, in Brazil, it is provided some guidelines, which are, essentially, based on IEEE Std 1453:2012 and IEEE Std 1453:2015. Additionally, among the existing computational modellings of electric arc furnace, this work recommends a specific model from the literature with deterministic and stochastic characteristic. In this regard, aiming to investigate its feasibility, the model is implemented on three different systems for connection study. So, the flicker emission (Pst indicator) is compared to that one obtained by the analytical method. From the results, it is noted that the recommended computational model can be adopted as standard in voltage fluctuation studies due to electric arc furnace connection.
