Effects of applied stress on complex ppermeability spectra in amorphous alloys with positive and negative magnetostriction

Stresses induce important modifications in both the magnetic domain structure and some magnetic properties through the stress-induced magnetoeleastic anisotropy. Model for the dependence of initial permeability on applied stress has been proposed, taking into account both the wall displacement and magnetization rotation processes [l]. In the previous studies, we decomposed the frequency spectra of complex permeability for amorphous ribbons. measured at relatively high amplitude of ac magnetic field, into two spectra associated with relaxation processes of reversible magnetization and irreversible magnetization, respectively [2]. In this work, the effect of applied longitudinal stress on the decomposed reversible and irreversible permeability spectra are presented for the amorphous ribbons with positive and negative magnetostriction constant, λ, and are analyzed in terms of the induced change of domain structures, in order to correspond these relaxations to domain dynamics.
