Design and performance analysis of ZVS interleaved boost converter in standalone PV system

This paper predominantly emphasizes on the resonant soft-switching topology which is advantageous in terms of switching losses as compared to hard-switching. A zero voltage switching (ZVS) interleaved DC-DC converter is implemented, acting as main interface between the photovoltaic (PV) panel and load. Acquiring maximum efficiency of the PV panel, a progressive methodology is implemented. Initial approach is done by introducing variable step incremental conductance (VSIC) maximum power-point tracking (MPPT) to the interleaved boost converter rather than conventional boost converter. Further to reduce the switching losses, interleaved boost converter is modeled for zero voltage switching that accomplishes switching during both turn-on and turn-off transitions of the switch employed in the converter. The feasibility and reliability of the entire system is verified by obtaining the results from the simulation model designed in MATLAB/SIMULINK.
