Government communication strategies of global city: Opportunities and risks

The purpose of this paper is the study of government communication strategy in St Petersburg as a global city. The global city status is considered to be desired and beneficial bringing much needed sustainable development in digital society. Political engagement and government administration are named among main parameters to reach the status (Sassen; O'Connor; Florida; Kearney; etc). In this research the authors make an attempt to indicate the essential characteristics of the government public relations in St Petersburg combining three methods: experts' interview, document analysis, and opinion poll. The paper discusses results of the study revealing existing tendencies of St Petersburg current communication strategy as a global city.
