Online condition monitoring of large synchronous generator under short circuit fault — A review

This paper reviews short-circuit fault in the large synchronous generators. It is shown that probability of rotor short-circuit fault in large synchronous generators is more likely compared to stator short circuit fault. Different fault indices for short circuit fault detection of the rotor are reviewed and their competencies are compared.
