Practical realization of dynamic reactive power compensation in industrial system of spot welding

The industrial plants for spot welding represent the dominantly inductive dynamic loads and have extremely rapid and large changes of electrical current and reactive power. So, these systems in the electrical network cause significant power failures and flickers, which adversely affect both the quality of the supply of other consumers in the supply network, as well as the quality of spot welding and also the productivity of the whole system. This paper describes a concrete system for fast dynamic compensation of reactive power, practically realized on the machine for spot welding of armature construction fittings. In the paper are given the key experimental results obtained at the spot welding plant before and after dynamic compensation of reactive power.
