Cryptanalysis and improvement of a mutual user authentication scheme for the Internet of Things

Recently, a number of authentication schemes have been designed for Internet of Things (IoT). In 2017, Feng et al. proposed an authentication scheme and claimed that their constructed scheme is well secure. However, based on the cryptanalysis, it is shown that their scheme is inappropriate for its practical use as it does not resist several attacks. Thus, the scheme is vulnerable. To overcome these attacks, this paper aims to design a light-weight authentication scheme which resists several real-life security challenges. Besides, we compare our proposed scheme with other competitive schemes and find satisfactory results.
