Revisiting optimization of 2D tracker application in solar energy

The article contains the results of experimental and theoretical studies on the efficiency of solar power plants using electromechanical systems for sun position tracking. A mathematical model of a 2D solar tracker describing the orientation and energy characteristics is formulated. The net energy gain inclusive of consumption of the orientation system motors is demonstrated to be the feasibility criterion of the tracking system application. An appropriate number of receiver displacements made during a daily cycle is determined both experimentally and theoretically to be around 30.
