Full analysis of wave propagation in helical lines loaded by azimuthally magnetized ferrite rod

The propagation of electromagnetic waves along a helical line loaded by an azimuthally ferrite rod is investigated without restriction on the components of the permeability tensor so that computations near the gyromagnetic resonance can be equally performed. The components of the fields in the ferrite rod are expressed by special functions given by their power series expansions. The helical line is simulated by an anisotropic cylindrical conductor perfectly conductive along all plane sections parallel to the plane of the artificial windings and without conductivity at a perpendicular direction thereto ("sheath helix"). Dispersion curves for the two lowest non-symmetric modes emphasizing the influence of the deviation of two diagonal elements of the permeability tensor from vacuum permeability are given. The method allows higher accuracy for analysis and design of non reciprocal phase shifters.
