Hybrid monitor belt: A non-invasive health monitoring system with flexible printed ECG array

This paper presents a novel method of heart-rate calculation basing on the ECG signal acquired from abdomen. The result of the experience demonstrates the practicability of this method. Then a non-invasive and wearable monitor platform is designed and implemented, on which the electronic components are soldered and electrodes sensors are printed on flexible printed circuit boards(FPCBs). The ECG electrodes, FPCBs printed with gold, are distributed on the belt and connected to the core board through a FPC connector. In this paper, 3-lead ECG signals, which are chosen from six electrodes array through analog switches, are high qualified for heart-rate measurement. The core board also contains an accelerometer, which is close to belly and can acquire the data of belly vibrate. This system can calculate the respiratory rate and movement with this acceleration data. This sensor platform can be more sophisticated when the using of BLE SOC hard core board is replaced by integrating the BLE SOC IC on the FPCB.
