Influence of pointing error and detector noise on the bit error rate performance in ground-to-satellite laser uplink communication system

In space optical communications, bit error rate of a system is an important indicator for the communication quality. Here, we propose a combined effect of combined pointing error and detector noise on the bit error rate. Firstly, the probability density function of the received light intensity is presented in the optical communication uplink. Secondly, we obtain the bit error rate expression of a receiver system combined probability density function and detector noise. Finally, based on the system model, the influence of system jitter, transmission power, transmission aperture and boresight on the bit error rate are analyzed. These research works are beneficial for the study of communication performance in satellite-to-ground optical communication uplink.
