Comparison of various equalization techniques for MIMO system under different fading channels

Expansion of mobile data application has increased the demand for wireless communication system which offers high throughput, wide coverage and improved reliability. The main challenge in the design of such system are the limited resources and the impairments of the wireless channels which includes noise, inter symbol interference (ISI) and fading effects due to these issues system issues system efficiency reduces. These can be compensated by employing equalization technique. The most promising MIMO technique in wireless communication can achieve above requirements by using multipath propagation. In this paper the performance comparison of various detection techniques like Zero forcing (ZF), Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC), Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) for MIMO system is evaluated. Using BPSK modulation BER analysis is done under different fading channels (Rayleigh and Rician).
