Waveform diversity for spectral sharing

This paper summarises a recent study that addressed spectrally efficient radar waveform design and spectral band sharing. The problem is introduced and waveform designs and techniques are presented that have low spectral sidelobes; are orthogonal radar waveforms; or are mutually co-operative. They are then assessed for their spectral efficiency. In addition, strategies for shaping and processing the waveform spectrum to reduce interference between close-to and in-bandwidth users have been addressed. Using these techniques, it is shown that the allocated radar bands could be reduced and/or the utilization of the bands by radar could be reduced, thus allowing others users into their bands.
