Fabrication consideration of three-dimensional skeletal muscle fiber using biomaterial

In this paper, we proposed fabrication method of artificial muscle bundle using biomaterial, C2C12 cells and microfluidic device. Artificial muscle bundle aiming at mimicking of nature muscle bundle was accomplished by integration of gel fiber based fibrin containing C2C12 cells. Fabricated integrated gel fiber was demonstrated high cell viability and high anisotropic cell elongation at 1 day of culture from fluorescent staining. As a result, long-tern cell culture and acquisition of muscle contraction ability by differentiation are expected in the near future.
