End-to-end availability analysis: Worst-case study of e-learning network at mae fah luang university

End-to-end availability of an e-learning network connection topology is evaluated and compared between centralized server and decentralized server network architecture. The combination of Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) and the simplex three-state Continuous Time Markov Chain (CTMC) model was applied to evaluate overall system availability on the worse case condition. The simulation results showed interesting transient end-to-end availability characteristics where the decentralized architecture has higher availability than the centralized architecture.
