Design & realization of tri-band monopole antenna for wireless application

A G-shaped compact printed monopole antenna is designed covering a frequency range of wireless local area network (WLAN) and the World wide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wi-MAX). The antenna simulation is performed for measuring various antenna parameters such as bandwidth, directivity, gain, radiation pattern and return loss to analyze its performance. . It is constructed from a Flame Retardant 4 (FR4) dielectric substrate. The length and width of the resonating patch is tuned to perform tri band operation. The three resonance frequencies at 2.4 GHz, 4.5 GHz and 6.45GHz are achieved by introducing the G-shaped resonating element. Designing and software simulation is performed on IE3D method of moments based simulation software. Further the hardware of the antenna is tested with the help of VNA (Vector Network Analyzer).
