L3 technologies EDD Q/V-band helix TWT for future high-data-rate communications uplink applications

For next generation high-data-rate satellite communication systems, L3 Technologies, Electron Devices Division (EDD) has successfully developed an uplink Q/V-band helix TWT, the 8936H, that can produce 250-W saturated peak output power with overall efficiency up to 46% across 47.0 to 52.4-GHz bandwidth. The 8936H can operate up to 150-W CW over 47.0 to 51.4 GHz (low band) and up to 125-W CW over 51.4 to 52.4 GHz (high band) with full thermal stability.
