Services for development of Situational Aware Intelligent PSS

The upcoming trend for mass-customisation and higher customer expectations are forcing industries on the one hand to shorten their product release cycles, and on the other hand to create products which are self-adapting to the need of the customers. Situational awareness is a promising approach to achieve a high self-adaptability of such products, extended by services. The approach presented in this work addresses both challenges. It provides a short overview of a novel engineering platform for rapid collaborative design of product extension services and it presents an approach of how such a generic service-oriented situational aware product extension service, can be easily configurable and deployable through engineering tools running on the introduced engineering platform. Finally, it presents an application, applied and tested in an industrial environment in collaboration with a company in real life scenarios.
