Exact Least Square Registration Algorithm for Multiple Dissimilar Sensors

Interest in multi-sensor data fusion has grown tremendously in the last few years, and registration is the necessary process of multi-sensor system. An exact least square registration algorithm is presented to correct the systematic errors for multiple dissimilar (active or passive) sensors, which can be used in passive location system. Sensor registration problem is expressed by an averaged least-squares (LS) criterion function of sensor measurements, employing a recursive two-step optimization algorithm to get both target state and sensor bias estimations. Finally, simulations are employed to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm. The result shows it can solve the registration problem effectively.
