Performance appraisal of Wireless Energy Harvesting in IoT

Energy efficiency is a vital issue for the Internet of Things (IoT) to carry out its complex network activities. The energy-aware IoT devices can appease part of their energy demand by Wireless Energy Harvesting (WEH). In this paper, we have presented the lifetime curves of the sensor nodes in an IoT environment along with its dependency on EH Fraction value. Moreover, we have assessed the throughput gain and battery life for three different conditions and presented a comparison among them to determine the optimum one. Result verifies the proper implementation and operation of WEH method which is capable of improving energy efficiency, sensor lifetime, and application throughput of the designed IoT topology.
