Improvement of communication performance in indoor environment using screen printed frequency selective film

In this paper, we fabricated and tested FSS that blocks 2.4GHz band using screen printing method which is easy to manufacture and mass-production in printing electronics. The proposed FSS was fabricated by using a screen printing technique on a thin transparent film. In order to realize low surface resistance and high adhesion characteristics, high conductivity Ag ink was used. The fabricated FSS has stable performance against polarization and incident angle changes and is verified by measurement. When this is applied to the indoor space, the performance of the FSS was verified by simulating the indoor communication signal performance. Simulation results show that SNR of indoor space is increased by 18dB by applying FSS blocking 2.4GHz band, and very good signal quality can be obtained. To validate the study, we measured the received power of the signal through the FSS film applied to the inner wall and compared it with the simulation results.
