A systematic review of requirement traceability techniques and tools

Requirement Traceability (RT) is a significant method to analyze the effect of changes among various software development lifecycle artifacts. The RT not only improve the change management process but also assure the correctness and quality of the entire system. Although several RT techniques and models have been proposed by the researches, no research study is available yet to the best of our knowledge that analyze and summarize the latest RT developments. Therefore, in this article, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is performed to recognize 33 studies (2010-2017) in the area of RT. This leads to identify 7 models, 10 challenges and 14 tools. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of models and tools is presented. The findings of this study are highly valuable for the practitioners and researchers of the domain.
