Implementation and performance analysis of the parabolic antenna for improving reach on quadcopter

UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is a flying machine that works with the remote control by the pilot or can control himself. On the control of UAVs required controllers in the Ground segment called GSC (Ground Control Station). In this GCS the role of antenna is very important because antenna as data transmission medium from GCS to UAV and vice versa. In this research UAV functioned as early warning system of forest fire which area more than 1 hectare. The problem is the factory default antenna is only able to maintain communications up to a distance of 140 m with a maximum power of 20 dBm. Implementation of parabolic antennas is a solution to cover an area of more than 1 hectare so that GCS can still monitor the state of the UAV through the GPS coordinate points sent by the UAV. The UAV used is a quadcopter. The results of this study is a parabolic antenna that has a gain of 6.67 dBi. Analysis of test results using linear regression method. The antenna test results are capable of maintaining the transmitted signal between GCS and UAV with a minimum power of 1 dBm at a distance of 80.54 meters with RSL -91.21 dBm at 433MHz. Whereas if using maximum power 20 dBm then the distance that can be reached is more than 360.09 meter with RSL value at that distance is -99.21 dBm. So the conclusion of this final task can solve the problem of distance more than 140 meters.
