Numerical implementation of efficient cross-section method for the analysis of arbitrarily shaped dielectric obstacles in rectangular waveguide

In this paper, we propose a technique which is similar to cross-section methods. This technique can be used to solve a problem of electromagnetic scattering from an arbitrarily shaped dielectric discontinuities inserted into rectangular waveguide with regular cross section. The proposed technique is very efficient for arbitrarily shaped ff-plane discontinuities, who are widely used in practical applications, but is also applicable to arbitrarily shaped magneto dielectrics with loses as well as layered dielectrics and multiple obstacles. Technique is derived by reducing the Maxwell's partial differential equations to a system of ordinary linear differential equations, by expanding the electromagnetic field components into infinite series of weighted bases functions. The geometry of the dielectric body is described by area integrals, which, for most practically used geometries, can be calculated analytically.
