TCO savings for data centers using NFV and hardware acceleration

Network Function Virtualization (NFV) promises significant advantages for Telecom Operators. In this publication the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for a Data Center (DC) that uses virtualization and intelligent Network Interface Card (NIC) for hardware acceleration is calculated and compared to that of a Data Center without these features. The results show cost savings that range between 13% to 25% due to lower IT investments and power consumption.
