An experimental analysis of the effects of wiring harness during bulk current injection (BCI) test

In this paper, the effects of ground return wires and crosstalk in wiring harness during BCI test are experimentally analyzed. The analysis shows that BCI coupling efficiency is significantly affected by the different wiring harness conditions such as wiring harness tightly bundled or wiring harness separated. Especially, during differential mode BCI test, the injected current can hardly be achieved unless all ground return wires, such as power ground and shielded layer, are routed outside the BCI probe.
