Speed control implementation of BLDC motor using sliding mode two-steps LMI design

This paper presents the implementation of the Sliding Mode Control (SMC) design method: Two-Steps (Linear Matrix Inequalities) LMI Approach on a BLDC motor. Two-Steps LMI approach is a method to design an SMC controller so it can guarantee the stability of closed loop system in the sense of Lyapunov. The model of BLDC motor in this paper is considered to be a linear continuous time-invariant system. This paper is using MATLAB LMI Solver Toolbox to solve all the LMIs. In the simulation that runs on MATLAB, the system is stable while it still has the steady state error. To improve the performance, an integrator is added so that the output is tracking the input. The implementation result is also proving the stability of the system although it still has chattering problem because of high-speed frequency switching nature in SMC.
