BER performance simulation over an impulse noise channel

This letter presents a verification through simulation of the accuracy of a formula derived previously (see Electronics Letters, vo.35, no.4, p.273, 1999), for predicting bit-error-rate (BER) performance in an impulse noise channel. A new expression for the mean impulse event frequency based on a generalized exponential distribution, suggested previously (Henkel and Kessler, 1994), is derived so that a more accurate theoretical BER can be determined. Simulation results obtained show good fit to the theoretical curves.
