Advances in higher color quality and healthier white LEDs

With the advanced formulation of new phosphors and latest progress in packaging design, several technologies to obtain the higher color quality and healthierwhite LEDs are investigated. By engineering the spectrum power distribution (SPD), we developed LEDs that emulates reference light sources such as daylight and incandescent light. These LEDs exhibit qualities closest to daylight with high CRI, continuous and balanced spectrum in the visible emissions range, and ideally attuned to human sensitivity. By minimizing the ups and downs of spectrum power distribution, we also reduced high energy blue light to total blue light ratio so that the white light is healthier and more comfortable. LEDs with high CRI (Ra=98±2, Rf>93, Rg=100±2) have been achieved without sacrificing the lumen efficiency, reliability, and cost. Additionally, we conducted experiment of LEDs excited by violet chip in order to achieve more vivid color and nature whites. The CRI, continuity of spectrum (Cs), and the blue light ratio (Rb) of various approaches will be quantified and calculated based on SPD generated in the experiments.
