Design and analysis of hybrid maglev wind yaw system

A maglev wind yaw system (MWYS) is proposed to decrease the yaw power with the hybrid magnet. A disc motor and a variable speed gear are introduced to weaken the coupling between the suspension force and yaw torque. Firstly, we analyze the operation principal of the MWYS, and give the detailed description of the suspension weight and rotary torque. The rotor ample turns are given based on the Magnet motive Force; And then the suspension air gap energy of is given, with which to acquire the suspension repulsive force, and then the hybrid magnet including permanent and suspension windings are all designed. Simulation platform is built to validate the feasible of MWYS and the effective of the control strategy. The positive windward experiment shows that the system can acquire the nacelle stable suspension and yaw for wind with the constant speed.
