Research on the influence of virtual damping in passivity-based controller on boost converter

Aiming at that it is difficult to choose the value of virtual damping(VD) in passivity-based controller of the Boost converter, this paper proposes an approach which can be used to calculate and optimize the value of VD. The range of VD can be determined by constraining overshoot of the current response of Boost converter. The optimal VD can be found in the range of VD by genetic algorithm(GA) and excellent performance of the Boost converter can be obtained. Passivity-parameter adaptive controller(PPAC) based on fuzzy control is designed in order to overcome the effect of variable loads in practical engineering. Boost converter can obtain small impulse current, rapid response and without static error by above optimal VD and PPAC. Simulation results prove that optimal VD and PPAC are feasible.
