Smart T-shirt with wireless respiration sensor

In this paper, we demonstrate that respiration pattern can be acquired wirelessly from the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) via standard Bluetooth protocol using hybrid-spiral antenna made from multi-material fibers integrated into a cotton shirt. Fast (60 breath / min) and slow (12 breath / min) breathing can be detected within 3 m distance in sitting and standing scenarios using a tablet.
