A filtering combined series- and parallel-fed patch antenna array

This paper introduces a filtering combined series-and parallel-fed patch antenna array. The antenna array consists of four series-fed two-element subarray and a feeding network that is realized by a stub-loaded resonator. The two-element subarrays perform not only radiators but also the resonators. The antenna elements, together with the compact feeding network, function as a second-order band-pass filter. The feeding network provides the first stages, while the antenna subarrays provide the second stage in the filter design. To verify the concept, an antenna array operating at 3.5 GHz has been analyzed and designed.
