Designing of characteristic test equipment for over current relays with current capacity of 30 amperes

Relay testing unit that has been widely available in the electricity industry is largely a multifunctional tester, so it tends to be complex and expensive. Then came the idea to design relay testing unit which is simple and economical, especially to test the characteristics of the over current relays with emphasis on precision and accuracy. The final results that are being expected is a simple test equipment that can be used to inject the current up to 30 A and to see the time with a precision of 1/1000 s in an over current relays. So the average results from testing the characteristic is 0,424 s for standard inverse, 0.576 s for very inverse, 1,125 s for extremely inverse and 5,252 s for long time inverse. Which is compared with the avarage results of the characteristics that are obtained from the calculation; 0,439 s for standard inverse, 0,551 s for very inverse, 1,093 s for extremely inverse and 4,9 s for long time inverse. The comparison data of the test results and the calculation result is not much different. So it can be concluded that relay MCGG53 that being use as the test object is still good and proper for use.
