Dielectric properties of fe-co ferrite nanocrystalline material characterization in microwave region

Iron-Cobalt (Fe-Co) ferrite nanocrystalline materials have been widely applied in microwave and radio frequency devices, such as circulators. Magneto-dielectric nanocrystalline were synthesized by mechanosynthesis (high energy mechanical grinding). Samples were taken at different grinding times. Toroidal samples were made by compact method at room temperature. In this work, the effect of mechanosynthesis time on complex dielectric properties were systematically investigated. The extraction of the complex dielectric constant is made on a large frequency range [8-12] GHz. The behavior of the compacted samples exposed to an electromagnetic field (band X) was studied using a cylindrical resonant cavity associated with a network analyzer. The measurement results demonstrate that the proposed Fe-Co ferrite material is available to be used in microwave circulators due to its mean dielectric constant and its low loss tangent.
