Correction of dynamic errors of fiber-optic pressure sensor based on estimation of nonlinearity value of membrane stress-strain behavior and adaptive method

The article reviews the capabilities and particularities of the approach to the improvement of metrological characteristics of fiber-optic pressure sensors (FOPS) based on estimation of the nonlinearity value of the membrane stress-strain behavior and the adaptive method. It is shown that this method applied to the metrological characteristics allows for the measurement errors to be minimized. It is found that the suggested mathematical model provides for not only the main membrane characteristics such as sensitivity and stress distribution to be obtained but also the stresses' maximum values and zones of their concentrations to be determined. It is shown that, in case of FOPS being different by a significant non-linearity of the transformation function of “laser - feeding light guides - membrane reflector - branching-off light guides - photoconverter” unit, the algorithm of the adaptive correction method is appropriate to be included in the algorithms for photoconverter data processing.
