Economic evaluation of a grid-connected PV system at Otago Polytechnic

Solar photovoltaic electricity has become a well-accepted and popular form of renewable energy. It is also a policy of Otago Polytechnic to look at ways of becoming more sustainable and cost effective in its energy usage. As a result, an investigation is conducted into the potential use of PV electricity. This paper presents the results of a study into the economic viability of implementing a grid-connected rooftop PV system at the Otago Polytechnic campus in Dunedin. The results will determine whether a solar photovoltaic system is a cost effective investment.
