Electric charge flow in linear circuits

This paper shows that the net charge injected by an arbitrary voltage or current source into a linear circuit is divided among the circuit branches, including transmission lines, in the same proportion as the charge would divide among the same branches, if the circuit was replaced by its equivalent circuit at 0 Hz, i.e. solely according to the resistances of the DC equivalent circuit. The DC equivalent circuit alone will govern the exact sharing of the net charge in spite of current oscillations and transients caused by reactive elements or propagation effects on transmission lines. This property of circuits may encounter interesting applications in the dimensioning of surge protection devices (SPD), in the measurement of earthing resistances, and possibly in other areas of electrical engineering.
