Modular design of minicomputer applications

Modular design techniques in minicomputer applications, as in most large software efforts, is critical, particularly in the laboratory research environment where the demands on the computer system for data acquisition and control continually change because of changing demands by the experimental program. The subject of this paper is some of the successful modular techniques and minicomputer applications at Argonne.
